From December 13, 2025, Hanoi City Police officially put into operation more than 1,830 AI cameras at 195 key intersections in the area.
The system is deployed to serve the work of ensuring traffic order and safety, focusing on reducing congestion, improving traffic management efficiency and detecting and handling administrative violations for more than 23 groups of common violations.

According to Hanoi City Police, the AI camera system is capable of recording 360 degrees, identifying vehicles, license plates and violations at a distance of 500-700m, operating stably in all weather conditions, both day and night.
Cases with signs of violations will be automatically detected by the system, images will be extracted, and data will be transmitted to the Command Center for review and completion of handling records according to regulations.
In addition to the function of monitoring and handling violations, AI cameras also have the ability to automatically assess vehicle traffic volume, thereby adjusting the signal light cycle at intersections, contributing to limiting traffic conflicts and reducing congestion.

Operating reality shows that many common violations of road traffic such as running red lights, not wearing helmets while driving motorbikes, mopeds, using a phone while driving... are automatically recorded by AI cameras.
The system also detects and handles other behaviors such as not complying with road markings, not turning on directional signals, stopping and parking in the wrong direction, going in the wrong direction, carrying more people than the prescribed number, passenger vans stopping to pick up and drop off passengers in the wrong direction, covering license plates, carrying bulky goods, homemade vehicles...
At the same time, the AI camera issued a direct warning to the traffic police on duty on the route to promptly check and handle cases of oversized, overloaded vehicles or other serious violations.
Notably, data from the AI camera system is stored on many servers, with a maximum duration of up to 75 days. Thanks to that, the system not only records violations in real time but also supports authorities in tracing, checking and determining the journey and operation of the vehicle in the past when necessary.

The Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police recommends that people strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, comply with the system of signs, traffic lights, and road markings; drive vehicles in the correct section of the road and lane.
At the same time, traffic participants need to give up the mentality of dealing with, avoiding cameras, voluntarily complying with the law, contributing to building a safe and civilized traffic culture in the capital.
