According to Mark Gurman in a recent update, at least two devices using Apple's new M5 chip may be launched this year.
Gurman said the M5 chip-powered iPad Pro has entered the final testing phase, ready for production in the second half of this year.
Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro using the M5 chip is expected to launch in the fall, following Apple's familiar release cycle in recent years.
However, this year's iPad Pro model is unlikely to be equipped with a modem developed by Apple. Gurman revealed that this shift will be carried out in 2027, when the M6 chip line appears. Apple has begun the first steps of development for this generation.
Previously, in February this year, Apple introduced the first mobile modem designed by the company called C1 on the iPhone 16e model and according to initial reviews, this chip works quite stably.
With the M5 chip development roadmap being accelerated and positive signals from the C1 modem, Apple shows an increasingly great ambition to control the entire hardware chain.
Although the gardening leaf modem has not appeared on the iPad this year, the plan to integrate in 2027 shows that the company is making steady progress in its strategy of reducing dependence on external partners such as Qualcomm.
If everything goes smoothly, the future Apple ecosystem will be more seamless, optimal, and closed than ever.
