According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple currently has no plans for a compact device like the iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 13 mini.
In an interview with Bloomberg readers this week, Gurman said: They are not currently developing a single small iPhone. Apple has shifted to about 6 inches as the basic standard and is gradually expanding further.
This fact is not surprising, because there is no sign that Apple is returning to the mini design before. However, there are still a loyal group of users who love this compact size and now they will be disappointed.
Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini (5.4-inch display) in 2020 and continued with the iPhone 13 mini in 2021. But from the iPhone 14 (2022), the mini series was eliminated and replaced with the iPhone 14 Plus. The iPhone 13 mini was kept as a low-cost option until 2023, before being completely discontinued.
This year, the iPhone 16 Plus is expected to be replaced by an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air model. It is clear that both the mini and Plus strategies have not met Apples expectations.
