Apple launched iOS 18.1 with its first artificial intelligence (AI) features earlier this week. In a recent interview with CNBC, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared that iOS 18.1 is seeing a huge uptake.
Tim Cook's comments came after Apple reported impressive fourth-quarter earnings.
iOS 18.1 includes the first set of Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools, Notification Summary, and Cleanup in the Photos app.
According to Tim Cook, Apple is receiving “very positive feedback” from users and developers: “We are getting great feedback from customers and developers, with an early reading after just three days showing that users are updating to iOS 18.1 at twice the rate of iOS 17.1 during the same period last year.”
Meanwhile, last year's iOS 17.1 only included a few changes to AirDrop, StandBy, and the Music app, along with a few bug fixes.
This is the first time Apple has provided information about iOS 18's update rates. Typically, the company updates software update rates to its developer website a few months after release.
Apple has also begun testing iOS 18.2 with developers. This update will bring even more Apple Intelligence features, including Image Playground, Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and more. iOS 18.2 is expected to launch in December this year.
