According to Lao Dong, at Ham Ho mountain area (Tay Phu commune, Tay Son district) - the place that received the two pilots in distress, Colonel Nguyen Van Son and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan are both in stable health, with only a few minor injuries.
Under heavy rain in the middle of the night, Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, along with officers and soldiers in the army, were present at Ham Ho mountain area to welcome, send words of encouragement and inquire about the health of the two pilots as soon as they emerged from the forest.
After being taken to the temporary command post in Tay Phu commune, the two pilots were taken to Military Hospital 13 - Military Region 5 for further monitoring and medical treatment.
Speaking to Lao Dong, Colonel Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5 said that the search for the pilots encountered many difficulties because the plane crashed in heavy rain and the streams were cut off. In addition, the location where the two pilots parachuted out of the plane was a dense forest area, surrounded by rocky mountains, making it very difficult to find.
"After receiving the order, about 600 officers and soldiers of the regular force of Military Region 5, along with a large number of militia and local people, joined the search for the two pilots, despite the heavy rain," said Colonel Tran Thanh Hai.
Find the plane's whereabouts, decode the black box
Informing the press, Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son said that under the direct command of General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense, all forces deployed the search work very quickly.
According to Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, the location where the two pilots were found was exactly where the two soldiers had sent a signal to the unit. The reason the two pilots did not move from this location was because the unit had instructed them to stay put and find a safe hiding place so that the force could easily find them as soon as they received their location.
"Using many technical measures, the units calculated every minute, determined the speed, altitude of the plane and the position of the two pilots to deploy search forces in the most reasonable way.
Heavy rain, strong winds, fast-flowing rivers, deep forests, and steep mountains, but the forces quickly brought the two pilots back despite the complicated weather conditions. I highly appreciate this search. Preliminary results show that the two comrades are still healthy and safe," Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son commented.
According to Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, on November 7, forces will search for the plane crash site and decode the black box to find the cause of the accident.
"There will be appropriate rewards for the two pilots and the flight command force. At the same time, the search and rescue forces will be commended and rewarded tonight (November 6)," said Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son.
