According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to strongly upgrade the Health app to compete with big guys like MyFitness pal or Noom.
Expected to launch as early as next year with iOS 19.4, the new feature will focus on smart, personalized nutrition tracking based on artificial intelligence (AI).
Currently, the Health app only supports basic information such as caffeine or carbs consumption, quite limited compared to MyFitness Pal (famous for its huge food database and detailed calorie counting feature) or Noom (specializing in changing eating habits).
Apple's project will bring a series of notable upgrades: easier and smarter meal diaries; personalized menu suggestions and nutritional advice with AI; Video instructions from leading nutritionists; integrated data synchronization from Apple Watch and iPhone; Nutritional advice based on specific health and exercise goals.
Notably, Apple will exploit data from daily activities, sleep and health metrics to provide truly helpful advice, not just counting calories.
Despite still facing heavy competition and challenges from previous healthcare products, Apple is still betting heavily on the power of AI. If successful, this could be a notable turning point in the nutrition tracking app market.
