Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported on a feature that could be coming to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 next year. Notably, the feature is described as potentially life-saving. Gurman's report also includes updates on health and safety features being developed for future Apple Watches.
Accordingly, Apple plans to introduce the ability to send text messages via satellite in the next version of Apple Watch Ultra. This will be the first time Apple integrates satellite connectivity with Apple Watch. Choosing the Ultra model to develop this feature is reasonable because it takes twice as long as other models.
Like on the iPhone, satellite connectivity will include the ability to send text messages when you lose your wifi or cellular connection. This feature is especially useful for Apple Watch users when they don’t have their iPhone with them. It can also be useful if your iPhone is lost or damaged in an accident.
Meanwhile, Apple continues to develop a blood pressure feature that can detect signs of high blood pressure without providing specific readings. Apple is also working on non-invasive blood sugar monitoring, but Gurman said that feature is still in development.
