On May 22, the City Party Committee, the Can Tho City Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation (S&T, Innovation & Digital Transformation), the Can Tho City People's Committee, and the Department of Science and Technology organized the scientific conference "Developing the innovation and creative startup ecosystem of Can Tho City at the regional and Mekong Delta (Mekong Delta) regional level".
The conference aims to thoroughly grasp the content of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on national breakthroughs in S&T, innovation and digital transformation.
Along with that, it affirms the role and commitment of Can Tho City in building and developing an innovative startup ecosystem, creating and maintaining a leading role in the Mekong Delta region in accordance with local practices.
According to a report in Can Tho, the ĐMST and KNST ecosystem in the past time has had positive changes.
The ecosystem with 68 KNST enterprises, 23 intermediary support organizations, 6 startup support spaces and a common working space; forming 5 regional and local innovation startup ecosystem linkage networks and signing 30 memorandums of understanding on cooperation in developing innovation and KNST ecosystems.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - informed that the Conference was organized with the desire to receive exchanges and shares from scientists, experts and businesses to synchronously and effectively implement the Central Government's policies.
Along with that is researching solutions to develop the Can Tho City Startup and Innovation Center to play a leading role; strengthening links and coordination to develop the innovation ecosystem throughout the Mekong Delta region.
Mr. Nguyen Mai Duong, Director of the Innovation Agency (Ministry of Science and Technology) said that Can Tho City needs to continue to pay attention to establishing a specific measurement system to assess the contribution of S&T, innovation and digital transformation to economic growth; continue to build and promulgate breakthrough mechanisms and policies to promote technology innovation by enterprises, commercialize research and development results, and make enterprises the center of the innovation system.
Along with that, Can Tho City promotes the development of the KNST ecosystem, creating a favorable environment for the development of KNST enterprises based on technology and the potential and advantages of Can Tho City; implement breakthrough policies to attract, retain and develop high-quality human resources.
The event is expected to create an important foundation to promote the innovation and innovation ecosystem of Can Tho City to develop strongly, making positive contributions to the overall development of the Mekong Delta region, striving to make Can Tho City a S&T City of the Mekong Delta region by 2045, belonging to the group of fairly developed cities in Asia, and becoming a livable city of Vietnam.
