According to Adobe Analytics, the agency that tracks more than 1 trillion visits to US retail sites, online spending set a new record this year. From 10am to 2pm, the amount of money spent is about 12.5 million USD per minute. Adobe believes that Black Friday is becoming a key time for e-commerce as many people choose to stay home to take advantage of the incentives.
Adobes forecast shows that Cyber Monday could be even more vibrant with an expected spending of $14.2 billion. This is considered an early sign for the year-end shopping season. Total spending this year's holiday season is estimated at 253.4 billion USD compared to 241.1 billion USD in 2024.
Salesforce also recorded large spending on Black Friday with $79 billion globally and $18 billion in the US. The growth rates were 6% and 3% respectively compared to the previous year. However, Salesforce believes that price increases are the main reason for sales growth, as commodity prices increase by an average of 7% while the number of orders decreases by 1%.
Both companies have pointed to the increasingly obvious impact of AI on shopping behavior. Salesforce estimates that AI and AI agents have impacted $22 billion in global sales from Thanksgiving to Black Friday, although the scope of the calculation has not been specifically determined.
Meanwhile, the trend of direct shopping at stores is not yet unified. RetailNext recorded a 3.4% decrease in the number of customers nationwide. Pass_by said that the number of customers increased by 1.17% and especially increased by 7.9% at department stores.
