On July 28, at the Concentrated Information Technology Park - Da Nang Software Park No. 2, the Launching Ceremony of the Laborator Project for the Production of Advanced Packaging Technology (Fab-Lab) invested by VSAP LAB Joint Stock Company took place.
Also attending was Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Science and Technology.
The Fab-Lab project is a pioneering model in Vietnam, with strategic significance in developing core technologies, concretizing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo and the Strategy for the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050 according to Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg dated October 30, 2024 of the Prime Minister.
The project is invested with a total capital of VND1,800 billion, built on an area of 2,288m2, a total usable floor area of over 5,700m2, expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The project is divided into two main areas: the lab area (Focus on research and development of new packaging technologies such as Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging (FOWLP), 2. 2.5D/3D IC, Silicon Interposer and Silicon-Bridge) and Fab room area (performing experimental production on real wafers, with advanced equipment such as lithography (casset), wafer bonding and international standard measurement system). After completion and operation, the designed capacity is expected to be 10 million products/year, serving the domestic and international markets.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the role of packaging - testing as a strategic link, helping Vietnam participate more deeply in the global semiconductor value chain.
The project is a flexible coordination model between the State and businesses, with the Lab as a creative innovation testing center, laying the foundation for high-quality human resource training, attracting investment, and technology transfer.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to accompanying Da Nang in building a mechanism to support research - testing infrastructure, connecting national and international programs in the field of packaging, design, and testing of microchips.
Accepting the opinion of the Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City affirmed that the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is the top breakthrough in the 2025-2030 term. VSAP Lab is expected to become a model "lab-fab" model - integrating research, testing, production and training - serving advanced microchip packaging for AI chips, sensors, medicine and high-speed communication equipment.
"The city is committed to creating favorable conditions for infrastructure, administrative mechanisms and human resources for the project to be implemented on schedule, safely and effectively. VSAP Lab will be the core to form a cluster of semiconductor innovation, contributing to realizing the aspiration to build Da Nang into a high-tech center of the country and the expectation of becoming a "magnet" attracting gray matter, the cradle of advanced packaging technology Make in Vietnam", Mr. Triet emphasized.
