Digital economy breaks out, online public services lead the country
On the afternoon of September 22, at the Da Nang City Digital Economy Development Workshop in 2025, Mr. Tran Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Society - Ministry of Science and Technology gave a speech on "Da Nang orientation for digital economy and digital society development in the period of 2026 - 2030".
According to Mr. Tuan, as the center of the Central region, a logistics gateway, a leading tourist destination and with high technology potential, Da Nang aims to achieve 35-40% of GRDP (national target of 30%) by 2030. Online public services reached 85% of the total records (national target 80%), 100% of optical cables 1Gb/s, 5G coverage ~ 100% of the population (national target: 99%).

Da Nang has led the Vietnam ICT Index for 14 consecutive years, and has been ranked first in the provincial digital transformation index - DTI (including the 3 pillars CQS, KTS, XHS), online public services throughout the process reached 95% (the highest in the country).
Mr. Tuan said that Da Nang City will focus on development based on the "formula" of digital economic success including: management and operation platform; centralized data; AI transformation and human resource training. In which, the key areas are tourism, logistics, culture and processing and manufacturing industry.
Because Da Nang's strengths are tourism as a top destination, developed infrastructure; having seaports, international airports, strategic locations, UNESCO heritage, local identity and high-tech IT/IT areas, strong FDI with R&D.
Digitizing tourism, logistics, culture
Regarding digital tourism, the target is that 70% of accommodation establishments use a management platform and 100% of establishments make online bookings. About 75% of tourist attractions will sell tickets online. Breakthrough solutions include an integrated city-wide tourism data platform, virtual reality tours of heritage sites, AI-guided multi-language and connecting ASEAN borderless digital tourism.
In the field of logistics and license plate ports, Da Nang's target by 2030 is that 100% of ports deploy management platforms, 70% deploy online port service portals, 90% of bus companies convert to digital, and 50% of transportation businesses use platforms. The breakthrough project includes Lien Chieu port with a capital of VND 7,378 billion to receive a 100,000-ton ship, a 2,317ha free trade zone with a capital of VND 40,000 billion, converting Tien Sa port into a marine tourism service center.
In the field of culture and digital trade, Da Nang will preserve and develop a centralized cultural heritage database, Digital 3D/VR360: Museums, historical sites, "MyCulture" application: Search, experience heritage, Intellectual property protection technology.
Regarding e-commerce, the target is that 90% of wholesale and retail stores use digital platforms; 20% of e-commerce/total retail; virtual reality booths enhance experience; trading floors in the alley sector (maritages, specialty agricultural products).
Da Nang also focuses on infrastructure and information security, ensuring that 80% of people are basically protected, building an open IoT platform and AI infrastructure with a large Vietnamese language model.
With the roadmap divided into 2 phases including 2025 - 2026 to create a foundation and 2027 - 2028 to expand, Da Nang City aims to contribute to the national target, becoming the leading locality in the country in developing the digital economy and digital society, Mr. Tuan emphasized.
