In a rather surprising move, Google has just announced that it will start rolling out the Gemini 2.5 Pro model (test version) to all users of the Gemini application, including free accounts.
Gemini 2.5 Pro is considered Google's " smarter AI model" to date. Unlike previous versions, the 2.5 Pro version integrates thinking capabilities in a single model instead of dividing into separate versions.
Although still in the testing phase, this model has supported many features such as application extensions, file updates and from today, the Canvas feature.
When launched, the 2.5 Pro version was exclusively for Gemini Advanced users - a premium subscription package belonging to Google One AI Premium, priced at 19.99 USD/month in the US.
However, in the latest announcement, Google said it has decided to roll out Gemini 2.5 Pro (test version) to all Gemini users, starting today.
This model has now appeared widely on gemini.google.com and will soon be available on the Gemini app for Android and iOS - both platforms have also just had their ability to remember the model that the user has chosen improved.
It is not yet clear whether Google will continue to provide a free stable version of 2.5 Pro to all users, or this is just a testing phase. Previously, many people thought that the free versions would be limited to Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking and 2.0 Flash.
