Google said that the upgrade process from Google Assistant to Gemini will take place gradually "in the coming months". By the end of this year, Google Assistant will no longer be available on most mobile devices and will also be removed from application storages.
Google said it will also upgrade other devices, including tablets, cars, and devices that connect to phones such as headphones and smartwatches, to use Gemini. At the same time, the company will bring a new experience, integrated with Gemini technology, to home appliances such as smart speakers, display screens and TVs.
Before officially stopping supporting Google Assistant, the company focused on improving the user experience with Gemini, especially for those who rely on Google Assistant functions.
Some of the most requested user features have been added to Gemini on Android, including music playback, scheduling, and performing operations right from the lock screen.
Google's removal of Google Assistant to move to Gemini is not much of a surprise, especially since the company's Pixel 9 phone line has integrated the Gemini virtual assistant default.
According to Google, Gemini has more advanced features than the Google Assistant, while bringing new support methods through tools such as Gemini Live and Deep Research.
