Google is upgrading Gmail with a new feature called add to calendar, allowing for automatically detecting content related to appointments in emails and adding events to Google Calendar.
Currently, Gmail has integrated the Gemini-powered Email Summary button. In the near future, when Gmail recognizes the event information in the email, the Add to the calendar button will appear. When pressed, the Gemini dashboard will open with information such as event title and time automatically filled in.
Some notable points are that the Add to calendar button will not appear for emails that have pre- extracted events (such as booking restaurants, flights, etc.); events created from this button will not automatically add guests and this feature will be rolled out in advance on the Gmail web version in English.
Google said the new feature is expected to be fully available in mid-April for some paid accounts.
Integrating Gemini into Gmail helps users save time on information processing and manage schedules more effectively. With the ability to smartly automate, Google continues to affirm its pioneering role in applying artificial intelligence to enhance the working experience.
In the future, many other smart features may continue to be added to optimize user convenience.
