EC has asked Apple to stop "geo-blocking" - an act of restricting content according to users' geographic location - on some services.

Accordingly, the European Commission (EC) has asked Apple to stop the geo-blocking service - an act of restricting content according to the geographical location of users, on taols services such as App Store, Apple Arcade, Music, iTunes Store, Books and Podcast.

The EC said it has identified some of the most likely blocking geographical acts on some of Apple's media services.

In addition, the committee also said that it may have to take enforcement action by national regulators if Apple fails to address the above concerns.

EC member Margrethe Vestager affirmed that the committee is stepping up the fight against geographical blocking. They believe that no company should discriminate unfairly against customers based on their nationality or place of residence.

According to the EC, the "tech giant" Apple will have a month to propose commitments to address identified georedored matter.
