Accordingly, the European Commission (EC) has asked Apple to stop "geo-blocking" - the practice of restricting content based on users' geographic location - on Apple services such as the App Store, Apple Arcade, Music, iTunes Store, Books and Podcasts.
The EC said it had identified a number of potentially prohibitive geo-blocking practices on some of Apple's media services.
In addition, the above commission also stated that it may have to apply enforcement measures by national regulatory agencies if Apple fails to address the above concerns.
EC Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said the Commission is stepping up its fight against geo-blocking, saying no company should discriminate against customers based on their nationality or place of residence.
According to the EC, tech giant Apple will have one month to propose commitments to address the identified geo-blocking behavior.
