Google Expands Gemini Live to Over 40 Languages

Google will expand Gemini Live, its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, to more than 40 languages in the coming weeks.

Gemini Live, Google's AI chatbot that lets users chat like a friend, is adding support for more languages. The company will roll out more than 40 languages to the virtual assistant in the coming weeks.

Gemini Live is Google's way of bringing natural conversations to the age of generative AI. You can use it to brainstorm events, discover new knowledge, or practice interview questions (and get instant feedback).

Even though Google describes it as chatting with friends, it's unlikely many people will take full advantage of these features.

Additionally, the tool lets you chat in two languages on the same device, with more languages to come. Multilingual support will also work with Gemini integrations for other Google apps and services, like Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and more.

You can set your preferred language in the Android app. In the Google app, go to Settings > Google Assistant > Language and select your first preferred language. If you want to add a second language, there's an "Add language" option at the bottom.

For now, you'll still need an Android phone to use Gemini Live. Google hasn't announced plans to bring the feature to iPhones.
