Previously, the majority of YouTube Premium subscribers were mainly to remove advertisements and use YouTube Music, but this service also came with many "deeply customized" tools to serve demanding users.
Quick rides with custom speeds (from 1x to 4x in 0.5x steps) are now available on Android, iOS and the web, rather than just limited to the mobile YouTube app.
Users can also pre- download Shorts to watch online or open Shorts as an image-in-picture on both iOS and Android. Notably, the Jump Ahead feature that helps bypass the excess passages to go straight to the main moment in the video now supports both smart TVs and gaming machines.
In the music industry, the biggest improvement is sound quality. When watching music videos, users can choose High mode with a bitrate of 256kbps. Previously, this option was only available on the YouTube Music app, but now it's available on both YouTube and YouTube Music for Android and iOS.
While it does not change the core benefits of the YouTube Premium (13.99 USD/month) plan, these additions show that Google is working to synchronize the user experience across multiple platforms, bringing more value to the monthly subscription fee.
