YouTube TV subscribers have the opportunity to reduce costs in the short term thanks to a little-known promotion program.
According to the user community, this online TV service applies a discount of $33 per month for two months, equivalent to a total of $66 for the basic package.
The information was first discovered on the Reddit forum, when some subscribers noticed that the basic package fee temporarily decreased from 82.99 USD to 49 USD per month.
However, this promotion is not displayed directly to all users but needs to be operated in the account settings.
To check, the registered person can follow these steps:
- Log in to YouTube TV, select a profile picture in the right corner of the screen.
- Access "Settings", then go to "Member".
- click "Based package manager" to find a discount option down to $49/month.
The promotion will only be valid for two months, after which the cost will return to the normal level of 82.99 USD. Some users said they dont see the option, suggesting that YouTube TV may apply separate conditions to each customer group.
The promotion program was launched right after YouTube TV confirmed that it will continue to maintain Fox system channels on the broadcast list, which has attracted the attention of many viewers.
At the same time, YouTube also tightened account sharing policies for Premium services. Some Premium Family subscribers have received warnings that their accounts may be suspended if they do not live at the same home address.
Analysts say this temporary discount may be a way for YouTube TV to retain users amid fierce competition from other streaming platforms.
Meanwhile, warnings about account sharing suggest the company is following a tighter control trend, similar to Netflix before.
With the increasing cost of online services, this "illegal" discount program is considered a worth considering for those who want to save costs while still maintaining access to YouTube TV's diverse channel system.
