Experts say climate change is making serious disturbances more likely, especially in bad weather. Disturbances are caused by strong whirlwinds that can cause the plane to fly up, down or sway to the sides.
Thousands of aircraft experience serious disruption each year, causing each airline to lose an average of nearly 2 million USD due to damaged and delayed aircraft.
According to international media, Emirates said that their new technology provides "real-time data" to help identify troubled areas on the flight route for pilots.
The Dubai-based airline said that this approach has helped reduce unexpected severe weather incidents.
Airlines often use weather reports and radar to predict areas of disturbance. However, the Emirates has announced its new method - using community-contributed exercise, driver-led data, and reports to improve prediction accuracy.
The airline will provide pilots in the cockpit with live images of on-site disturbances, allowing the crew to predict disturbances and prepare for further appropriate actions.
Captain Hassan Alhammadi - Senior Vice President in charge of Emirates flight operations - said: "We consider noise to be an ongoing challenge and cannot completely eliminate it, but we are committed to doing everything we can to minimize serious and unexpected noise encounters through partnering with our partners to share our vision of using advanced technology and applying AI to improve operations.
Although still in the early stages, we have seen the authenticity of the potential benefits that these systems can provide.
He added that while Emirates cannot commit to smooth flights, the airline's new strategies have contributed to "significantly reducing" serious and unexpected disruptions over the past year.
"This makes customer's journey safer and more comfortable," said Alhammadi.
