Rapid and proper treatment of the phone when soaked in water is the most important factor in helping to limit damage and prolong the life of the device.
Step 1: Take your phone out of the water immediately
When detecting a phone falling into water, the first and most important thing is to quickly remove the device from a humid environment. The longer the contact period, the more water can penetrate deep into the internal components, increasing the risk of damage to the hardware.
Step 2: turn off your phone as soon as possible
If the phone is still working, turn off the power immediately to avoid a power outage inside the phone. Continuing to work when the phone is wet can cause serious problems, damage the circuit and reduce the life of the device.
Step 3: Disassemble removable accessories and components
You should remove all the removable parts such as:
Protective cover to easily dry the machine.
SIM card and memory card to avoid data damage.
Battery if your phone has a released battery.
This helps the water not continue to spread and makes it easier to dry each part.
Step 4: Dry the surface and cleats with a soft towel
Use a soft, dry and clean towel to dry your phone, especially screws such as charging ports, SIM cards, speakers, and microphones. Limit the use of paper or paper towels to avoid scratching the screen or leaving dirt.
Step 5: Re hydrate inside the phone
To dry the inside of your phone, you can apply one of the following methods:
Place the phone in a raw rice bag: Rice has the ability to naturally absorb moisture, but the absorption time is quite long and not completely effective.
Use a silica gel moisturizer: This is a better way to pump moisture quickly and effectively.
Place your phone in a dry, cool place: Avoid leaving the device in direct sunlight or in high temperatures to avoid damaging the components inside.
You should leave your phone like that for at least 24 to 48 hours to ensure the steam inside is completely dried.
Step 6: Absolutely do not turn on the device or charge during this time
A common mistake is trying to turn on the phone or charge it while it is still humid. This can cause a blockage of the machle, damage the component and make it impossible for the device to be repaired.
Step 7: Check and turn on the device after it has dried
Once you have left your phone dry enough time, reinstall the battery (if disassembleable) and try turning it on. If the machine is working normally, you can rest assured. If there are still signs of errors, the machine is not upcoming or the operation is unstable, the machine should be taken to a professional repair center for timely inspection and handling.
