At noon on July 3, a clip was circulated on social media recording a man using a drone to rescue children trapped in the rushing water ( Ia Tul commune, Gia Lai province), making many people admire him.
The person in the clip was identified as Mr. Tran Van Nghia (residing in Chu Se commune, Gia Lai province). With a drone used to spray pesticides on the potato fields, Mr. Nghia saved the two children from the rushing water.
Mr. Nghia said that at noon of the same day, while working near Ben Mong bridge, he suddenly heard the sound of people shouting for help because a small child was stuck in the water.
"At first, the water only reached the knees, but the children of the cattle herd still passed by normally. But in just 5-10 minutes, the water suddenly rose very quickly. The herd of cows had reached the other side, while the children were trapped and isolated in the rushing water," Mr. Nghia recounted.
Adults tried to swim out to rescue but could not approach because the water was too strong. In an urgent moment, Mr. Nghia came up with the idea of using the DJI T50 agricultural aircraft he brought to rescue.
"I controlled the plane carrying the two children's ropes to the shore safely. When the third child arrived, the family boat was ready to approach," he said emotionally.
While flying to rescue the children, his hands trembled and his heart beat beat strongly for fear of an incident. However, in the emergency situation, Mr. Nghia tried to calm down and quickly brought the children to shore safely.
Currently, the children's health has stabilized, and local people expressed their gratitude for Mr. Nghia's kind act.
