Apple is said to be launching the first folding screen iPhone, also known as iPhone Ultra, at an event on September 9. Before this time, many new information about the device had appeared.
Support MagSafe
Fold-screen iPhone prototypes that have appeared in leaked images do not show MagSafe magnets. However, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg believes that many signs indicate that the device will still support MagSafe charging.
Folding on the screen
Apple was once rumored to be able to create foldable screens that almost leave no folds. However, more recent information shows that folds still exist.
However, the fold is said to be very small and Apple may have significantly reduced the ability to see with the naked eye. The complete removal of the fold seems not yet achieved.
Touch ID replaces Face ID
Folding screen iPhones are rumored to use Touch ID instead of Face ID. The reason is said to be that the device has a very thin body, about 4.5 mm, making it difficult for Apple to fully equip Face ID hardware.
Touch ID can be integrated into the button on the side. The volume control buttons are also said to be located on the top edge of the device.
iOS optimized for foldable screens
Software is one of the important changes on the iPhone Ultra. Signs in iOS 27 show that Apple is preparing applications to better adapt to screen sizes and change rates.
The device is rumored to support multitasking, sidebars and run multiple applications in parallel, while allowing more flexible application window size changes.
Dual camera
The camera system is said to have not changed too much. Fold screen iPhones are expected to use dual camera clusters, including a wide-angle camera and a super wide camera.
A20 Pro chip and Qualcomm modem
Initial rumors suggested that Apple would use the C2 modem developed by the company itself instead of the Qualcomm modem. However, new information shows that Qualcomm can still be used on sales versions in the US, depending on the 5G mmWave support capability of the C2 chip.
The iPhone Ultra is said to use the A20 Pro chip, similar to the iPhone 18 Pro.
Two colors
Folding screen iPhone is expected to have two color options: white/silver and dark blue.
Has tested Apple Pencil
Apple is said to have tested Apple Pencil support on foldable screen iPhones. However, this feature is unlikely to appear in the first commercial version.
Can be scarce when open for sale
The launch and production time of the iPhone Ultra is still not completely unified among sources. Some information suggests that Apple may encounter delays.
Meanwhile, Mark Gurman said he would be very surprised if the foldable screen iPhone was not launched at the same time or near the iPhone 18 Pro.
Initial supply may also be limited, causing waiting times to receive machines to be prolonged, especially for customers who do not order early.
Price may exceed $2,000
The selling price is one of the most notable points. The iPhone Ultra is rumored to be priced over 2,000 USD, and may even reach 2,500 USD depending on storage capacity.
Apple is expected to introduce the folding screen iPhone along with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models at the "Surprise and Shine" event on September 9.
