According to Chinese financial news agency Cailian Press, the design of the folding screen iPhone rumored to be named iPhone Ultra has been completed before and mass production is currently underway.
This information was also published by East Money (China) and The Bell (Korea). According to sources, assembly partner Foxconn has also begun recruiting a large number of workers to meet the production demand for the folding screen iPhone model.
Faced with speculation that Apple may have to delay products due to complex assembly processes and low completion rates, sources confirmed that no information has been recorded about changes in plans. The device is still expected to be launched in September.
Previously, The Elec (Korea) newspaper reported that Apple started mass production from July but encountered some hinge-related problems during testing. Although most of the errors are said to have been fixed, the report predicts that the number of units sold in the early stage may not be much.
Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the folding screen iPhone will be introduced with the iPhone 18 Pro line in September but may not officially hit shelves until the fourth quarter.
Previously, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman also made two different comments. In March, he said that the device would not be sold at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro. However, by April, Gurman said the project was still on schedule and Apple aimed to sell it immediately after the launch event or sooner.
According to sources in the supply chain, Apple has asked suppliers to prepare components to produce about 10 million foldable screen iPhones this year, a significant increase compared to the previous forecast of 7 to 8 million units.
If the leaked information is accurate, the iPhone Ultra will have a 7.8-inch foldable internal screen, a 5.5-inch secondary screen, an A20 chip, a C2 modem in some markets and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button. The device is rumored to have a starting price of $2,000 to $2,500.
