Information from Ice Universe, an account famous for predictions about Samsung, shows that the main camera sensor mentioned on the Galaxy S25 (expected to launch early next year) is a 50 megapixel sensor, 1/1.56 inch in size.
In fact, Samsung has been using this sensor for the main camera since the Galaxy S22, launched in 2022. If the rumors are true, this means that for 4 years in a row, there has been no upgrade to the most important camera component.
Samsung may think that software improvements will make up for not upgrading the main camera. But if the rumors are true, Samsung could fall behind on this spec. The new Google Pixel 9, for example, has a 50-megapixel main camera sensor that measures 1/1.31 inches.
The larger the sensor, the more light it captures and the better the photo (at least in theory). There are only certain tricks and AI manipulations that users can do to improve the image beyond the limits of the hardware.
Earlier in June, another source said that there won't be many changes to the camera on the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus next year. However, they may be equipped with more RAM to support artificial intelligence processing.
