According to Xinhua, the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) said that the profit of the electronics industry increased by 96.9% compared to the same period last year in the first half of 2026, contributing 8.5 percentage points to the profit growth of large industrial enterprises.
Increasing demand for AI and computing infrastructure has strongly boosted production activities. In which, profits of the computer manufacturing industry increased by 689.3%, while the manufacturing industry of computer peripherals such as mice, keyboards and screens increased by 305.8%.
In the electronics sector, the profit of the integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing industry increased by 2,579.5%, while the manufacturing of discrete semiconductor components such as transistors and diodes increased by 31.2%.
For the electronic components sector, the profit of the specialized electronic material manufacturing industry increased by 209.7%, while the electronic circuit board manufacturing industry increased by 26.9%.
NBS data also shows that the profits of large-scale industrial enterprises, i.e. enterprises with main revenue of 20 million yuan per year or more, increased by 18.7% in the first half of 2026.
Mr. Yu Weining - statistics expert of NBS - said that growth is still maintained, but industrial enterprises continue to face many challenges such as market demand not fully recovering, fluctuating international commodity prices and cash flow pressure.
According to Mr. Yu, in the coming time, China will continue to promote emerging industries, upgrade traditional industries, accelerate the transition to new growth drivers and promote industrial development towards high quality.
