Meta is testing a new step forward for AI chatbot on WhatsApp with real-time voice chats.
This feature is now being tested for some users on the WhatsApp beta for Android (2.25.21.21), opening up more natural AI interaction in this popular messaging app.
Meta AI was previously integrated into WhatsApp, allowing users to ask questions, create images from text, or support some basic queries. However, compared to competitors such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, Meta AI is still limited in the aspect of critical thinking and in-depth analysis.
According to WABetaInfo, the source often provides reliable updates about WhatsApp, Meta AI's voice feature comes with a specialized interface, with a wave icon to start the conversation.
Users can choose to start the session from the Story tab or from the Call section. In case of use via the Call section, this could be a voice call with an AI chatbot, creating a feeling almost like being chatting with a real person.
In addition, WhatsApp also allows users to shrink the AI conversation interface and continue to use the phone for other tasks. Similar to regular calls, you can turn off the call at any time if needed.
The new interface will also display default suggestions and sample questions on multiple topics to help users start a conversation more easily.
However, Meta AI's voice mode feature is currently only limited and Meta has not confirmed the official release date to all users.
If fully developed, this will be a remarkable step forward in the race for the application of artificial intelligence in mobile communication, bringing a more convenient and closer experience in user and technology interaction.
