Meta has just introduced Facebook's content protection feature, a mobile tool designed to detect when the creator's original videos posted on Facebook are used without their permission.
If creators are warned that someone else is using their video, they can also block the ability to display that video on both Facebook and Instagram or track the video's performance and optionally add an author-account link to their work.
Or they can choose to announce their request on the roll, allowing that request to still appear on Meta platforms.
Meta said that adding a content protection feature is part of an effort to help unique content creators succeed on Facebook without being overwhelmed by copycators.
As part of the initiative, Meta said in July 2025, it deleted about 10 million fake records of major content creators and handled 500,000 accounts with fake spam or interaction.
While the new system also works to protect original content posted on Instagram, it requires creators to post their reels on Facebook for tracking. This is also effective if creators use the cross-post option from Instagram to "Sharing on Facebook".
This move could encourage more creators to share their work on Facebook.
The company said that the new content protection system will be automatically provided to content creators in the earning from content program on Facebook, who also meet advanced standards of integrity and premiumness. In addition, access to the new program is also being rolled out to creators using Rights Manager.
