Meta has just announced a major "overhaul" of its account system, aimed at simplifying the management of security and personal information throughout its ecosystem.
This new upgrade is called Meta Account, aiming to merge important settings such as passwords, authentication and contact information into a single platform.
In the context of users increasingly using Meta services such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, having to manage multiple individual accounts and passwords has become a major challenge.
Meta said the current system, the "Account Center," has provided some basic features, but are not enough to meet the increasingly complex needs.
With the new Meta Account, users can choose to use a unified password for many services, reducing the hassle of remembering many different login information. The system also supports a passkey, allowing biometric authentication such as fingerprints or facial recognition, enhancing security during login.
In addition, Meta integrates active security support tools such as reminders to activate multi-factor authentication and warnings when suspicious logins are detected.
All important settings from email, password to double-factor authentication are centrally managed in a single control panel, helping users easily track and adjust.
Another notable point is the improvement of parental control features through the Family Centre portal.
With this change, parents can monitor their children's online activities on many Meta platforms without switching back and forth between different applications, thereby improving management efficiency.
However, Meta still maintains flexibility for users. Those who want to separate accounts between applications can still do so.
Private settings or access in each application are still stored independently, ensuring personal control is not affected.
In addition, the new system allows users to easily link or unlink Meta accounts at any time.
This helps them be more proactive in managing digital identities, especially when using multiple services at the same time.
Meta said the update will be gradually deployed in the coming year. This is considered an important step in the strategy to build an increasingly closely connected ecosystem where users can access and manage all services more seamlessly and securely.
