Meta looks to lure creators away from TikTok

Meta has just launched a new program with rewards of up to $5,000 to attract content creators from TikTok.

According to Meta, the program is open to individuals who already have accounts on other social media platforms and can link them during the registration process. Participants need to create a professional account on Instagram and a page on Facebook.

To receive the maximum $5,000 bonus within 90 days, participants must post at least 20 Facebook Reels videos and 10 Instagram Reels during each 30-day bonus period. The posts must be made on at least 10 different days during each period. Meta also said that the specific bonus amount will be determined based on an individual’s “assessment of their social media presence.”

Additionally, creators have the opportunity to participate in the “Facebook Content Monetization” program to earn money from text, image, and video content.

While it doesn’t mention TikTok directly, the timing of the program is clearly aimed at creators who are already active on the platform, while TikTok is struggling to operate in the U.S. The requirement to have twice as many Reels on Facebook as Instagram also suggests that Meta is trying to promote original content on Facebook.

In addition to these rewards, Meta is also offering some creators who participate in the “breakthrough” program a free one-year trial of Meta Verified, which includes the blue tick and additional features like anti-fraud account protection.

Meta is also increasing the maximum length of Instagram Reels from 90 seconds to 3 minutes and improving the photo grid interface to better support users. At the same time, the company is negotiating major contracts with famous creators. According to information revealed, some TikTok stars are being offered bonuses of up to $ 50,000 per month if they prioritize posting content to Reels first.

While details of these agreements have not been released, a Meta spokesperson confirmed that the company has expanded its investment in creator support programs to increase competition and attract new users.

With these drastic moves, Meta is betting big on rebuilding the appeal of Facebook and Instagram, while creating an attractive environment for content creators looking for new growth opportunities.
