
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) said that in January 2026, the sector will continue to synchronously implement assigned tasks, focusing on perfecting institutions and organizing the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo. The focus is on promoting the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, thereby making practical contributions to socio-economic growth.
Regarding overall data, revenue of the entire science and technology industry in January 2026 is estimated at 464,116 billion VND, an increase of 23.3% compared to the same period in 2025. The industry's contribution to GDP growth is estimated at 124,065 billion VND, an increase of 33.3%. The total number of workers in the whole industry is about 2,381,940 people, of which scientific research and technology development human resources are 207,838 people.
In the work of building and perfecting institutions, in January 2026, the Ministry of Science and Technology advised and submitted to the Government of Vietnam and the Prime Minister for promulgation 8 important documents. The documents include 1 Resolution, 4 Decrees and 3 Decisions. The content focuses on amending and supplementing the action program to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW; detailing regulations on standards, technical regulations, product and goods quality; and at the same time reducing and simplifying administrative procedures in the field of science and technology. Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung also issued Circular No. 02/2026/TT-BKHCN guiding the implementation of special mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs in law-making and law enforcement.
Along with perfecting institutions, in January 2026, the Ministry of Science and Technology will implement many outstanding activities. The Ministry has issued a program to promote people and businesses to have a safe online presence with the national domain name ".vn" for the period 2026-2030; action plan to implement the National Strategy on Green Growth; action plan for 2026 to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW; and plan to prevent and combat corruption and negativity in 2026.
In January, the Ministry of Science and Technology also participated and organized many important events such as the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting, presentations at the 14th National Party Congress, and meetings and networking activities for generations of officials who have grown up in the science and technology sector.
Stepping into February 2026, the Ministry of Science and Technology determined to focus on effectively implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW, preparing the content for the first meeting of the Government Steering Committee for science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
The Ministry will complete and submit to the Government and the Prime Minister the guiding documents for the implementation of the Law on Artificial Intelligence, the amended Law on Intellectual Property and the amended Law on Technology Transfer according to the approved plan, and at the same time organize the strict implementation of the Prime Minister's Directive on organizing the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 safely, economically and taking care of the lives of officials, civil servants, and public employees throughout the industry.
