Head of virtual reality platform Horizon leaves Meta

Reuters reported that Meta's director of virtual reality platform Horizon, Mr. Vivek Sharma, will leave the company to seek new opportunities.

Meta's spokesperson confirmed the departure of Vivek Sharma, adding that his team will work directly with Vishal Shah, vice president of Metaverse.

Previously, Vivek Sharma was vice president of product management at Facebook gaming and Facebook Marketplace, and has been with Meta for more than 5 years.

Before leaving, Mr. Sharma was responsible for developing the virtual environment, allowing users to experience role-playing inside Metaverse through the company's virtual reality devices such as the Oculus virtual reality glasses.

Platforms created by Sharmas team include Horizon Worlds, an open-ended virtual world building platform, and Horizon Venues, which focus on virtual events. In addition, there is Horizon Workroom, a virtual conference technology aimed at corporate customers.

The passing of Vivek Sharma is related to the recent release of a screenshot of the Horizon Worlds virtual world by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Many critics and users have since criticized the quality of Horizon Worlds' Graphics.

Mark Zuckerberg then posted a second photo with significantly improved graphics. He admitted that the previous photo was quite basic, while promising there will be major updates to Horizon and artist Artist Artist soon.
