Microsoft has announced that it will stop supporting Windows 10 in the next few months, including recent updates. This means users will be forced to upgrade to Windows 11.
In the published support manual, Microsoft explains that the system requirements of Windows 11 are a major barrier for many devices, forcing users to upgrade the hardware. The company recommends using a Copilot+ computer for optimal experience. Some important games and features will also stop working on Windows 10.
It is estimated that about 400 million users are still using Windows 10 on unsatisfactory devices, at risk of being directly affected. Among them, Lawrence Klein has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft, accusing the company of threatening user data and seeking to monopolize the personal computer market integrated with artificial intelligence (AI). Mr. Klein said that this action has a profound impact, beyond the competition for technological dominance.
According to the lawsuit, in just over two months, Windows 10 will officially stop supporting. Users will have to choose between buying a new device or paying a fee to participate in the expanded support package. This raises particular concerns for businesses storing sensitive data, which will face the risk of cyber attacks and increased security incidents when the operating system no longer accepts patches.
Mr. Klein asked Microsoft to extend the support period until the number of Windows 10 devices fell below the reasonable level.
