Selling or giving away used phones is a good way to save money and protect the environment. However, before selling your phone, you need to do some important things to protect personal information and make the device work well for new users. Here are the steps you should take before moving your old phone.
Backup personal data
First, back up all the important data such as photos, videos, accounts, and messages. For Android phones, you can use your Google account to easily back up. Just go to Settings > Google > Backup, all your data will be saved in the cloud, allowing you to access it from other devices.
Dele all logged accounts
After backing up, you need to delete all accounts on your phone, including Google, Facebook, Zalo or other applications. This helps protect privacy and prevent new users from accessing your data.
Deleting application history and messages
Make sure that you have deleted all your message history, conversations, and posts from all social media and email apps to avoid data leakage or exploitation.
Log out of your Google account
This is an extremely important step. If not registered, new buyers may not be able to activate their phones because of Google's activated protection feature (FRP). Go to Settings > Google Account > select "Delease account from device" to log in.
Restore the original installation
After deleting all your accounts and personal data, you should restore the original setting (Factory Reset). This step will completely erase the data, returning the phone to the original state as when it was first purchased, making it easy for new users to reset.
Remove SIM, memory card and phone hygiene
Finally, don't forget to remove the SIM and memory card from your device. If you leave the memory card, reformat it to delete the old data. In addition, cleaning the phone with a soft towel and a suitable solution helps the phone look new, increasing value when selling.
