OpenAI is preparing to launch version GPT-5 in the coming days, marking an important step forward in the development of the artificial intelligence (AI) model. According to information revealed by Tom Warren from The Verge, GPT-5 is expected to officially release in August 2025. This could be one of the most powerful and comprehensive models ever of OpenAI a company backed by Microsoft.
The highlight of GPT-5 is its "uniformity", the unification of breakthroughs in theoretical and multimodal capabilities. Previously, OpenAI had separate product lines: the o line focused on reasoning capabilities and the "4o line specializing in multi-modal processing such as images and audio. GPT-5 is designed to combine the advantages of both lines into a single model, helping to optimize efficiency and user experience.
Mr. Romain Huet, Head of developer Experience at OpenAI, shared: We are excited not only to create a new border model but also to merge our two product lines. The breakthrough in the theory of the o line and the multi-modal capability of the GPT line will be perfectly combined in GPT-5. This is considered an important event, opening a new era for more complex, accurate and diverse AI applications.
In addition, GPT-5 is also expected to strongly improve current features, while minimizing switching between different models, making the experience smoother and seamless. GPT-5 will be our next platform, enhancing all current capabilities and supporting more efficient processing of complex queries, said Jerry Tworek, VP of OpenAI.
Some information said that OpenAI may adopt routing technology, meaning GPT-5 will be able to call an in-depth reasoning model when it needs to handle requests that require deep thinking. However, technical details have not been widely announced.
Notably, Microsoft is also testing GPT-5 in products such as Microsoft 365 Copilot and on Azure platform, promising to bring many new smart features and utilities to corporate users.
The launch of GPT-5 will be an important milestone in the development of artificial intelligence, opening up many potential applications in the near future.
