OpenAI removes io's brand name from website due to legal dispute

    OpenAI has removed any mention of io - an AI hardware brand founded by the company in collaboration with designer Jony Ive.

    According to Theverge, this move comes not long after OpenAI announced an investment of nearly 6.5 billion USD to develop specialized AI hardware.

    An OpenAI representative said that the cooperation agreement with Jony Ive's group is still being implemented. However, the temporary removal of the io name was due to a trademark infringement lawsuit from another startup named iyO - a company specializing in the manufacture of hearing aids, which was separated from Google's telecommunications hardware division.

    Currently, the 9-minute blog post and video announcing the collaboration between Jony Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam altman are no longer displayed on the official website. Previously, the article said: io Group, with the mission of creating products that inspire and support users. The io Group will be merged into OpenAI to co-develop in San Francisco.

    Kayla Wood - OpenAI spokesperson confirmed that the information page was temporarily removed under court order after receiving a complaint from iyO company. We do not agree with this accusation and are considering further steps, Kayla Wood said.
