This is an upgraded version of the o3 model announced in April along with the o4-mini.
The o3 and o4-mini models are designed to take advantage of all the tools available in ChatGPT. However, the o3-pro version has a clear difference, the response time is slower, but in return, the accuracy and efficiency are higher in complex questions.
We recommend using o3-pro for requests that require high reliability, where a few more minutes of waiting is worth it, OpenAI wrote in the release note.
In internal tests, o3-pro gave outstanding results compared to o3 and its predecessor, the o1-pro model. However, o3-pro does not currently support image creation and Canvas features, users need to switch to another model if they want to use these tools.
The o3-pro model is now available to users of the ChatGPT Pro and Team package. Enterprise and Edu customers will be available next week.
