On Friday (local time), technology company Perplexity announced a $400 million cash and stock deal with Snap, to integrate the AI search engine directly into the Snapchat app.
Under the deal, Snapchat users will be able to receive an instant response from Perplexity's AI tool when questioning the platform's My AI chatbot.
With more than 940 million users worldwide, Snapchat has become an important channel for Perplexity to expand its influence in the field of AI search for conversation, where it competes increasingly fiercely with Google, ChatGPT and Anthropic.
Snap said the new feature will be rolled out in early 2026, and the revenue from the deal will begin to be seen from the same year.
The cooperation announcement was made at the same time as Snap announced its business results for the third quarter of 2025. The company recorded revenue of 1.51 billion USD, up 10% over the same period last year, while net loss decreased to 104 million USD, compared to 153 million USD in 2024.
The Snapchat+ subscription package has now reached 17 million users, contributing to consolidating stable revenue for the company.
Analysts say that this deal will help Snap improve user interaction, while opening up a new development direction for Perplexity in the race to build the next-generation AI search platform.
