Instagram Teen Accounts features built-in protections that limit how unfamiliar accounts can contact teens and control the content they see.
Instagram will automatically put teenage users into Teen Accounts, and for those under 16, any changes that reduce protections will require parental approval.
Integrate protection measures
Instagram developed Teen Accounts with the needs of both parents and teens in mind. These new protections are designed to address parents’ biggest concerns, including: Who their teen can contact online, what content their teen can see, and how long their teen is on the platform.
These protections are automatically enabled, giving parents the power to decide whether teens under 16 can change these settings.
New settings help children register for new accounts in private mode, in addition to messaging limits, sensitive content controls, interaction limits, time-limit reminders, and sleep mode activation.

For children 16 and older, if parents want more control, they can simply turn on supervision, which allows them to approve or deny any changes to protection settings, regardless of their child's age.
Add tools to support parents in managing according to their needs
Even though Teen Accounts automatically applies new protections, many parents still want to be more involved in their kids' online experiences.
Therefore, Meta also expanded monitoring features, including: See who is chatting with your children (cannot read messages, only see the list of accounts that your children have messaged in the last 7 days); set a daily Instagram usage time limit, when reaching this limit, children will not be able to access the application; limit Instagram access during certain time frames...
