According to the leaked source, Apple has noticed engineers and suppliers that the new iPhone Air has been removed from the schedule without setting a new release date.
Initially, the iPhone Air 2 was expected to launch in the fall of next year along with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Fold. The device is designed to be lighter than the current version but has a larger battery capacity, while integrating an air conditioning system that first appeared on the iPhone 17 Pro. A previous rumor also said that the iPhone Air 2 will have a cluster of two cameras.
However, the source also said that Apple has not officially canceled the project, and there are still some engineers and production partners continuing to work on this model.
The main reason is that iPhone Air sales are expected to be lower.
With this decision, Apple is likely to launch only three new iPhone models next fall: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Fold. The base versions of the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are expected to launch later in the spring of 2027.
However, observers also expect that Apple may be conducting a major redesign and that the second-generation iPhone Air could still be launched in the spring of 2027, at the same time as the standard iPhone 18 and low-cost model 18e.
