The Galaxy S24 FE launched globally a few days ago, with a starting price of $649, about $150 less than the starting price of the Galaxy S24 series.
“If not necessarily the price difference with the Galaxy S24, the reason many people consider buying the Galaxy SE24 FE is because of the telephoto lens - a feature you won't find on too many phones in this price range,” shared technology expert Philip Michaels - writer for Tom's Guide.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE makes taking photos and videos a breeze thanks to its premium camera system featuring a 50MP wide-angle lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom.
Both are supported by advanced optical image stabilization (OIS) technology, as well as a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 10MP selfie camera, helping users capture every moment with sharp image quality.
For comparison, if you wanted to buy an Apple or Google phone with a dedicated telephoto camera, you'd have to pay $999 for the iPhone 16 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro — a much higher price than the Galaxy S24 FE.
The OnePlus 12 offers a 3x zoom lens, but it costs $799, which means “finding a cheap telephoto lens is rare,” Michaels added.
Galaxy S24 FE users will be able to turn videos they've shot into slow-motion footage later and bring creative editing to their photos with the Photo Assist feature.
