Kon Tum - The authorities recommend that when there is an earthquake, people should stay away from high-rise buildings and power lines.

On June 28, the Earthquake and Song Warning Newspaper Center, Institute of Earth Sciences (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that on the same morning, a 3.7 degree richter earthquake occurred in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province.

The earthquake did not cause any human or property casualties. The earthquake occurred at 5:09 am and 32 seconds (Hanoi time), with coordinates of 14.968 degrees North latitude, 108.180 degrees East longitude, with a focal depth of about 8.1km. Natural disaster risk level 0.

The earthquake in Kon Plong district is assessed by experts as a stimulating earthquake, occurring frequently and continuously since 2021.

The earthquakes in Kon Plong district had a magnitude of no more than 5.0 richter. The level of earthquake in this area, although common, has not reached the risk warning level.

The Institute of Earth Sciences regularly notifies authorities and people in this area about earthquakes. At the same time, people are advised that when an earthquake occurs, if they are on the streets, people should stay away from high-rise buildings, power lines, tunnels, and bridges.

Mr. Tran Van Net - Secretary of the Dak Tang Commune Party Committee, Kon Plong District said that earthquakes have occurred continuously since the beginning of the year.

Currently, the earthquakes have not yet affected houses, caused landslides, or threatened the safety of local people.
