Comparing AI from Apple, Google and Samsung

Anh Vũ |

Google, Apple and Samsung are competing fiercely in the field of AI applications for image creation, bringing unique solutions and opening up new experiences for users.

Google Pixel Studio, Apple Image Playground, and Samsung Portrait Studio are representative products of each brand, each tool has its own strengths in applying artificial intelligence to photo creation. However, they also have points for improvement.

Samsung Portrait Studio

Simple and accessible, Samsung Portrait Studio is the earliest release, focusing on portrait editing.

Users simply select a photo, tap “Photo Assist” and launch the Portrait Studio feature. This tool supports creating artistic effects such as 3D animation, comics or sketches.

While easy to use, it has obvious limitations: it only works with human faces, and doesn’t support group photos or animals. Also, the original background of the photo isn’t retained, which might be inconvenient for some users.

Google Pixel Studio

Creativity is limitless, Google brings Pixel Studio, where users can create photos from text descriptions themselves.

The tool uses Imagen 3 AI technology to convert ideas into images, with seven different artistic styles.

However, Pixel Studio does not support creating human images, although it can create fantasy characters like aliens.

Using Pixel Studio requires users to be detailed in order to achieve the desired results, but the creative flexibility is undeniable.

Apple Image Playground

Apple combines the capabilities of both competitors by allowing you to create images from text and edit existing photos in your library.

The tool supports photos of people and offers a variety of creative styles. However, since it is still in beta, Apple Image Playground sometimes has problems reproducing details like eyes and teeth, which is something that needs to be fixed to perfect the experience.

The differences between these three tools are evident in their approach to users. Samsung Portrait Studio is for those who want quick edits, while Google Pixel Studio gives more freedom to the imagination. Apple Image Playground balances both, but still has room for improvement.
