More than a dozen highway construction workers in Dak Lak are stuck in flooded areas

Dak Lak - A group of workers constructing a highway in the locality are stuck in flooded areas, have not been relocated and have run out of food and drinking water.

On November 21, at the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway project (part of the North - South expressway), the section passing through Dong Hoa ward (Dak Lak province), 14 workers are stuck due to floods, with no food and drinking water.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Hung (21 years old, from Gia Lai) said: "I and many workers have been trapped in floodwaters at Phu Khe 1 intersection (Dong Hoa ward) since November 19. Currently, our food is exhausted, there is nothing to eat."

According to Mr. Hung, the workers were trapped in the camp, surrounded by rising water, so they could not get out. For the past two days, the brothers have only eaten a package of raw instant noodles and now have nothing to eat. This area is also without power, with many phone signals.

About 2 km from Phu Khe 1 intersection, a group of 4 workers driving a rolling truck at the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway project also fell into a state of running out of food and drinking water.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duan (37 years old, from Quang Tri) shared: "For the past 2 days, we have nothing to eat, we have to collect rainwater to drink. In my group, there was an elderly person with poor health. Hopefully, the rescue team will soon grasp and promptly provide food relief."

Mr. Le Van Thin - Secretary of the Dong Hoa Ward Party Committee - said: "In some areas in the area, the water rose, the rescue force is operating at full capacity. As for the group of workers who are stuck, I will direct the brothers to approach and support them soon".

According to statistics as of the morning of November 21, the whole Dak Lak province had more than 39,000 flooded houses, 11,586 households isolated and more than 11,500 households evacuated. Hoa Xuan, Dong Hoa, Hoa Thinh, Hoa My, Tay Hoa, Phu Hoa 1 and Phu Hoa 2 communes are still deeply flooded, many areas are isolated.

The authorities evacuated nearly 10,000 people and rescued more than 500 people from the danger zone.

Floods in the province have killed a total of 16 people and left 4 people missing.
