A few days ago, Spotify users on Android, iOS and the web began reporting being inserted with ads while listening to music, sparking many discussions on Spotify's official community forum.
Spotify quickly confirmed that this was a system failure, not a deliberate change, and pledged to fix it soon. The company has announced that the incident has been resolved.
This is not the first time Spotify Premium users have encountered advertisements. There have been some small reports of similar incidents in recent years, but this seems to be the most common case.
To address the issue, Spotify has asked affected users to provide detailed information, including device model, operating system version, application version (for users who do not use the web platform), ad type encountered, and tried fix steps. The company even asked users to send videos recording the incident to help determine the cause.
With the new moves, the fix has been deployed quickly and Premium users are no longer interrupted by ads when listening to music.
Previously, the number of Spotify Premium paying subscribers reached 263 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, up from 252 million in the previous quarter, exceeding the company's internal expectations.
Spotify forecasts the growth trend will continue in the first quarter of 2025, with the expectation of 2 million new paying subscribers.
