Spotify tests AI feature allowing users to self-adjust suggestion algorithms

QUANG MINH |

Spotify is testing the AI Taste Profile feature, which allows users to directly adjust content suggestion algorithms according to personal preferences.

At a recent event, Spotify's leaders announced a new feature called Taste Profile. This tool allows users to directly customize what they want to listen to on the platform, from music, audiobooks to podcasts.

This artificial intelligence feature is currently in the beta testing phase.

According to the short introduction video, Taste Profile will display a summary of the user's listening habits, along with the "Tell us more" option below. Through this reminder, users can tell AI which content they want to listen to more, or remove music genres that often appear in the suggestion algorithm.

Spotify says Taste Profile can also understand contextual requests. For example, users may say they are practicing for a marathon and want to listen to live music, or want to listen to news podcasts while commuting to work.

The company emphasizes Taste Profile is an optional feature; users who do not want to use it can still continue to experience Spotify as usual.

With Taste Profile, Spotify continues to promote AI application features on the platform. Previously, the company launched Prompted Playlist last month. Unlike the existing AI Playlist feature, Prompted Playlist allows users to enter specific requests to create playlists, such as just songs that appear in a certain movie or TV show.
