The global tablet market continued to see remarkable growth in the second quarter, supported by subsidies for consumers in China and an increase in global trade bidding, said Himani Mukka, Research Director at Canalys, now part of Omdia.
With more than 39 million units sold globally, the tablet market increased by 9% year-on-year and 5% year-on-year. In June-June 2024, the number of tablets shipped in the factory only reached more than 37.5 million units.
According to experts, the tablet market in the second quarter of this year was boosted by the launch of new products, especially in the gaming segment. gaming tablets have emerged as a corridor for growth, especially in Asia.
Some outstanding gaming tablets at this stage include Xiaomi's Redmi K Pad, Vivo's Pad5, and Lenovo's Legion Tab. In addition, the fact that major manufacturers turn tablets into an important factor when promoting their ecosystem strategies, such as Honor with the plan "Alpha", Xiaomi with the initiative "People, cars, home" is also a factor that drives the market to grow.
In the tablet market, Apple maintained its leading position with 14.1 million iPads sold in the second quarter of 2025, up 2% over the same period last year.
Samsung maintained its second place with 6.7 million units sold from April to June 2025. The positions from the 3-5 are Huawei (more than 3.2 million units), Lenovo (3.098 million units) and Xiaomi (3.051 million units). Notably, Xiaomi has narrowed the gap with Huawei thanks to its strong presence in the Chinese market through online sales channels.
According to market research firm Statista, the tablet market is estimated to reach revenue of 55.12 billion USD in 2025. The compound annual growth rate reached 2.38%.
The US is the leading market in terms of revenue, estimated at 9.7 billion USD this year. Sales in the US increased due to the increased trend of online learning and remote working.
