App researcher Radu Oncescu was the first to discover the text Attachment feature on iOS and share screenshots.
According to the description, users can attach long text and customize formats to share thoughts, book excerpts, news and many other contents.
This feature can help Threads retain authors and creators who want to post articles instead of just posting them on a blog or Newsletter platform like Substack. It also eliminates the need to take notes to cross the character limit.
Threads user Robert P. Nickson has been testing it, showing a long text section appearing in a gray frame, viewers can tap on it to open and read it fully.
Meanwhile, X already has an Articles feature that allows long-term posting but only applies to paid users. Threads currently allows free use of all, but may change later.
Currently, Threads only supports text, while X allows adding photos and videos. Because it is still in the testing phase, Threads is likely to add multi-vehicle support in the future.
Meta said the feature will be rolled out more widely. This is one of many updates that Threads has introduced recently, such as direct messages, custom data sources, AI tools, etc.
After only two years of launch, Threads has reached more than 400 million monthly active users, while X has more than 600 million.
