Recently, new information said that the Camera application on iOS 19 may be comprehensively upgraded with a design "inspired by the visionOS interface".
In a YouTube video, Jon Prosser - a well-known source in the technology community revealed this big change, and also detailed how Apple improved the Camera app interface.
Prosser’s video shows that Apple has restructured the controls in the app interface, focusing on two main toggles: “Photo” and “Video.” Within each mode, users can easily switch between shooting modes, record videos, or adjust settings like exposure.
The top of the interface will have quick controls for features like Live Photos, the flash, along with options for setting resolution and frame rate. The app also retains a dedicated button for instant access to the photo library.
One of the most notable features of the rumored redesign of the iOS 19 Camera app is the viewfinder, which takes up most of the screen. Currently, Apple’s Camera app is filled with a lot of controls and settings, which sometimes disrupts the experience of taking photos or videos. However, with the new design, Apple seems to have optimized the interface, keeping important settings in easy-to-access locations while reducing clutter.
This design style is clearly inspired by visionOS – the operating system that Apple introduced with the Apple Vision Pro device. The transparent and minimalist design elements of visionOS seem to have been cleverly applied to the Camera interface. However, whether this design language will spread to other parts of iOS 19 is still a big question.
Last year, there were also rumors that iOS 18 would have a new interface inspired by visionOS, but that didn't happen. Therefore, information about the design of iOS 19 this time should be considered with caution.
With five months left before Apple officially announces iOS 19, plans could still change. It’s also possible that this is just an internal design that Apple is testing but not releasing to the public.
