iPhone 16 selling better than iPhone 15?
This figure is higher than last year, when large and small retail systems delivered 35,000 iPhone 15s on the first day of sale, with revenue of more than 1,000 billion VND.
With the iPhone 16 series, all systems recorded a large proportion of deposits and purchases of iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, mostly over 50%.
It is expected that in the first phase of sales, Apple will distribute 55,000 - 60,000 units to the Vietnamese market. In October 2024, tens of thousands more units will be delivered to authorized dealers, bringing the total number of units to 120,000 units.
According to FPT Shop, on the first day of iPhone 16 sales, the store delivered 10,000 units to customers, with estimated revenue of about 300 billion VND. The goal of FPT Shop and F.Studio by FPT is to deliver 20,000 units to customers in the first days of sales in September. The estimated revenue of this system will be up to 600 billion VND in the first days of iPhone 16 sales, because up to 70% of customer deposits are aimed at iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
TopZone and The Gioi Di Dong systems have delivered more than 25,000 iPhone 16 series devices to customers, with an estimated revenue of VND 750 billion. CellphoneS system has delivered 9,000 devices to customers in the first days, an increase of more than 50% compared to last year.
Some smaller systems also showed positive numbers. Preliminary statistics up to September 30 showed that Minh Tuan Mobile had delivered more than 2,000 iPhone 16 Series devices to customers.
The Mobile World system does not accept deposits, only opens a portal to register to receive information and own a new iPhone. However, they still recorded more than 28,000 customers registering to receive information and delivered nearly 2,000 devices to customers, of which up to 70% of customers chose to buy the 2 highest-end versions.
Similarly, the 24hStore system delivered more than 2,000 devices to customers in the first 4 days after opening for sale, achieving sales of more than 64 billion VND.
Attraction from the Vietnamese market
Vietnam used to be nowhere on Apple’s sales map. But for more than 4 years now, with iPhone sales skyrocketing, the “apple house” has had a different view of purchasing power in the Vietnamese market.
For the past 2 years, starting with the iPhone 15 series, Vietnam has been upgraded to “tier 2”, which is Apple’s second-tier market group. Therefore, customers in Vietnam receive their products early, just 7 days after some markets such as the US and Singapore.
“Vietnam has now become a key market for Apple, so in addition to being launched early, strong support in terms of communication and supply of goods also helps to prepare for the launch more thoroughly, improving business efficiency,” said a representative of FPT Shop about the reason why iPhone 16 has high sales in Vietnam.
Apple's respect for Vietnam is also demonstrated by the opening of its first online store in Vietnam in May 2023, marking the company's deeper penetration into this potential market.
According to a report by market research firm Canalys, in the Southeast Asian market, Apple's sales increased by 15% in the second quarter of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. In particular, Malaysia and Vietnam made great strides when "Apple expanded its retail operations", increased marketing, including CEO Tim Cook's visit to Vietnam in April 2024.
According to forecasts, the iPhone 16 series continues to create great attraction in the Vietnamese market at the end of the year. "With the warm reception from customers, it is predicted that from now until Tet, the revenue of iPhone 16 Series VN/A at 24hStore will continue to be maintained and may increase slightly compared to the same period last year - specifically about 10% compared to iPhone 15 Series.
