YouTube CEO Neal Mohan highlighted AI as one of the company’s four “big bets” for 2025 in his annual letter. YouTube is investing heavily in AI tools to support creators, including video idea suggestions, thumbnail generation, and language translation, Mohan said.

One of the most important developments is the automatic voice-over feature, which is expected to be rolled out to all YouTube Partner Program participants this February 2025.
Accordingly, recently, YouTube has introduced a series of AI features to help creators more easily produce content such as tools to create images, video backgrounds and add music to short videos...
However, integrating AI into the creative process still causes controversy that AI-generated content will reduce the value of YouTube, leading to a proliferation of low-quality videos. But many opinions say that AI is just a supporting tool, cannot replace human creativity.
In addition to supporting creators, YouTube is also committed to controlling how AI is used on its platform. The company is now expanding a pilot program with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to help more people identify and manage AI content that mimics their image.
YouTube previously announced a suite of AI detection tools to protect artists, actors, musicians, and athletes from having their likeness — including their faces and voices — copied and used without permission in other videos. At the same time, the company is upgrading its Content ID system, which is used to detect copyright infringement, to recognize both faces and AI-generated voices.

Another step in YouTube’s AI strategy is to use machine learning to estimate a user’s age, personalize the experience, and suggest appropriate content. Mohan did not provide details on how the technology works or how it will be handled if the AI makes a mistake.
In fact, other social media giants like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok have been using age verification technology for years now, and YouTube's move to join the trend is a move to improve safety and control over content on its platform.
With the rapid development of AI and changes in content consumption trends, YouTube is betting big on technology to shape the future of the world's leading video platform.
